Introductions

Welcome to Lucid Recording Sciences, Phoenix's Premium Location Recording and Mastering Service.  If you're looking for an incredibly musical and natural recording of a musical event in one of Phoenix's many excellent acoustic halls, Lucid should be high on your list of recording services to consider.

Lucid is a small company with a passion for and an ability to produce recordings of live acoustic events with amazingly lifelike clarity and naturalness.  We utilize years of experience along with some of the industry's best studio equipment to make stereo and surround sound recordings that you will be proud of.

Lucid specializes in capturing the essence of the performers AND the venue in which they perform.  Our goal is that when you listen to one of our recordings, it will sound like you're right there at the concert.  The idea is that what you hear on a Lucid recording should be the next-best-thing to being there live.

Lucid has recorded musical groups of all ages and talents - especially choral groups.  We've recorded everything from church girl choirs and high-school choirs such as the Hendrix High School Men's Choir and Arizona School for the Arts Men's Choir, to community choruses such as the Phoenix Metropolitan Men's Chorus, Orpheus Male Chorus, Phoenix Children's Choir, and Fountain Hills Community Chorus, and even up to semi-professional and professional musicians such as the men of Phoenix Bach Choir, Nosotros, the Sweet Adelines, and many musicians from the Phoenix Symphony and from Arizona Opera.

Lucid has set up this web site to introduce ourselves and to educate you about our services, and about many aspects of acoustic recording.  There is a wealth of detail here.  You may be happy with just the high level details, but we do cover many areas in quite a lot of detail for those of you who really want to know how things work.

Thanks for visiting!

About Us

Despite the use of the terms 'we' and 'us' that fits in so well when talking about a business, and that is sprinkled liberally throughout these pages, Lucid Recording Sciences is primarily a one-person venture headed by Brook Burson, a lifetime audiophile, pianist, singer, electrical engineer, and audio/acoustics/computer expert.  For more information on Brook please click on the About Brook link.

I have a huge passion for music and high quality audio.  As a life-long audiophile, technophile, and music lover, the passion I bring to Lucid is the desire to produce recordings with the utmost realism and musicality possible.  When you listen to one of my recordings on a good stereo system, it is my goal that what you hear will sound like you're right there at the concert.  The idea is that what you hear on a Lucid recording should be the next-best-thing to being there live.
